On 23 December 2008, after a long process, the divestiture of Hi -Tech, Vesuvius' ceramic filters business, was completed to companies owned by Süd-Chemie AG.
This divestment was a condition raised by the EU and US competition authorities in order to gain their approval for the Foseco acquisition.

Foseco will continue to produce and market its own range of ceramic foam filters for steel filtration - Stelex and Stelex Pro. With the completion of the Hi-Tech sale, Foseco will also refocus its efforts to better serve the investment casting market with filter products.  This approach will take advantage of the synergies made possible through the merger with the former Vesuvius Foundry business. I am pleased to announce that on 4 April 2008 Foseco plc was acquired by the UK company, Cookson Group Plc.  While the Cookson name may not be familiar to you, they have been heavily involved in the molten metal industries, through their ceramics division, “Vesuvius”.

Foseco’s presence at the recent GIFA exhibition attracted astonishing crowds and generated a wealth of new business leads for the company. Held every four years, GIFA is the largest foundry exhibition in the world. This year saw more than 77,000 trade visitors from all parts of the world travel to Düsseldorf to attend the show that was held from June 12th – 16th. 

Foseco Brazil demonstrated its commitment to the local community by sponsoring ‘The Art meeting’ and its interactive booth at Metalurgia 2006 in Joinville.

Foseco Brazil has more than complied with employment regulations by hiring a number of deaf recruits and welcoming them to the team by offering them real career prospects.

Foseco Polska celebrates green light for first manufacturing plant.
Foseco Polska was launched eight years ago with just one office and two staff based in Bytom. Twelve months later the team formed its own legal entity in Poland and Foseco Polska was officially launched in June 2001.

Mike Zeno, Product Specialist Foundry Feeding Systems Foseco Metallurgical Inc. was presented with a Distinguished Alumni Award by the Kent State School of Technology on April 29th, 2006. The award honours the school alumni who have achieved extreme success in their professions.

The second Minasfund exhibition provided the perfect opportunity for Foseco Brazil to put on a show in one of Brazil’s major foundry areas. The exhibition took place in May at the Expominas centre in Belo Horizonte, capital of the state of Minas Gerais. The show attracted foundrymen from all over Brazil, and visitor attendance figures were over 19,000.

Foseco NorAm Regional Sales Manager Dana Coulombe has been named Vice-President of the Foundry Education Foundation (FEF), the cast metals industry’s college educational programme. The position will see him taking on the Foundation President’s role in two years and comes after a number of years on the Board of Trustees of the FEF, where he has been the champion of its activities in Canada.
